Jet bites the dust

I find the events surrounding the demise of Jet.com unfortunate. My advice to all is to avoid the site. The owner has joined the Walmart "wally worlders". The prices have gone up. In some cases, the prices verge on gouging. The owner has become the head of the Walmart internet sales division and whether on purpose or by neglect, has let the company go downhill. Months ago, the much valued "Fresh Groceries" service for my area was discontinued. I do not see that service occurring in this area again. I suspect Jet will either be absorbed, sold off (as well as out), or completely absorbed into Walmart. The latter is less likely since the prices compete with Walmart. Walmart's strategy seems to have been to discover and attempt to emulate those features of Jet that gained them popularity. The packaging for Jet declined some and some of the shipping and packing features of Jet are now "selectively" available at Walmart. There is some question whether the features will be retained once the demise of Jet is complete. Walmart is likely to return to the previous state unless doing so would provide the basis for an anti-trust, class action suit by the government which, given the current administration, is unlikely.
Once again, scrutinize Jet closely for changes. Compare them closely with Walmart when shopping. I still compare prices but have turned more to local chains or mom 'n pop shops. I use Walmart/Jet as long as prices are SUBSTANTIALLY lower than local shops. If the difference is minimal, I shop locally or regionally.
