They're ( censors) are back!

Recently, I had occasion to watch some television. I generally avoid television because of the brain rot that tends to accompany participation.

After a few days, I noticed something that left me astounded. The off-network programming is inferior. The catalog consists of reruns, for the most part, and B-movies.

What astounded me is someone comitted the resources to go through each show and blur what an aging, senile, ultra-conservative might consider 'sensitive' material in particular scenes.

An example: I was watching an episode of an obscure science fiction television series I'd never heard of, and I'm familiar with most, when a woman in a t-shirt was being interogated by an alien after being shackled with her arms in the air. Her breasts were blurred. There were two big blurs, one for each breast. My theory is her nipples were erect, thus the censoring. Women with tong swim suits have their rear ends blurred.

This exceeds the limits of decency and wanders into the realm of anal puritanism, something I thought we'd left behind in the sixties. Some women wear long skirts. That's a prsonal choice. The owners of the stations involved would seem to be intent on making the practice mandatory. I would not be surprised to find their wives wear  hijabs.

Come to think of it, maybe the owners are not Catholic or Christian afterall.
Something to think about.
